Residents of Thane city will experience a temporary reduction in water supply as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) undertakes an upgrade of electricity meters at the Pise and Panjrapur power stations, according to the Thane Municipal Corporation.
As a result, the BMC has announced a 10 per cent reduction in water supply to areas of Thane that receive water from its sources. The water cut will be in effect from Tuesday, 7 October to Thursday, 9 October 2025.
Out of the total water supply in Thane, 85 million litres per day (MLD) is sourced from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The affected areas within Thane city limits include Naupada, Pachpakhadi, Hajuri, Luiswadi, Raghunath Nagar, Namdev Wadi, Sainath Nagar, Ramchandra Nagar 1, Kisan Nagar No.1, Kisan Nagar No.2, Shivaji Nagar, Padval Nagar, Janata Slum, Shivshakti Nagar, Karwalo Nagar, Ambika Nagar, Dnyaneshwar Nagar, Jai Bhavani Nagar, Kajuwadi, Jijamata Nagar, Balkum Pada No.1, Laxmi Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Manpada (Nal Pada), Kopri Dhobighat, Gavdevi (Luiswadi) Water Tank, Tekdi Bangla Water Tank, Bhatwadi, Indiranagar, Anand Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, and Kopri Kanhaiya Nagar.
Authorities have urged residents in these areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the three-day period to ensure uninterrupted daily activities.
The Thane Municipal Corporation has requested citizens' cooperation while the necessary upgrades are completed.
Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 10 per cent water cut in parts of the Island city and eastern suburbs for three days - October 7, 8, and 9. The supply will be hit owing to electrical upgradation work at the Pise and Panjrapur water treatment plants in Thane.
According to officials, the 100 kilowatts (KW) electrical meters at the treatment plants will be upgraded, with the work scheduled between 12.30 pm and 3 pm every day. This will affect water supply across several areas, prompting the civic body to impose a temporary 10 per cent cut.

A Ward: Fort, Colaba, Marine Drive, and Nariman Point
B Ward: Masjid Bunder, Mohd. Ali Road, Dongri, and Bhendi Bazar
E Ward: Byculla, Agripada, and Nagpada, as well as Dockyard Road and Reay Road
F-South Ward: Parel, Lalbaug, and Hindmata, and Lower Parel
F-North Ward: Matunga and Sion
