The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested an another accused in the firing case involving actor Tiger Shroff, a police official said.
With the latest arrest, the total number of accused arrested in the case has risen to 12, officials said.
According to a police official, the accused was arrested from Sonipat in Haryana and was being brought to Mumbai on transit remand for further investigation in the case.
"Acting on specific inputs gathered during its investigation, a Crime Branch team on Thursday, October 29, detained the suspect in Haryana, with the help of the Sonipat Police," said an official.
The development comes after all 11 accused in the Tiger Shroff firing case were produced before a special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court earlier on Thursday and remanded to police custody until November 6.
The judge asked all the accused whether they had any complaints or anything to say. The judge also asked whether they understood Marathi and instructed them to cooperate with the investigation.
Earlier, the Esplanade Court in Mumbai had remanded four accused to police custody until October 28. The four accused - Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita - were produced before the Esplanade Court, also known as Killa Court, for the second time.
The case relates to a firing incident that took place around 7 pm on October 18 in Juhu, when actor Tiger Shroff was leaving a football club. The actor escaped unhurt, while his driver sustained injuries.
The Mumbai Police have invoked MCOCA provisions against all the accused in the case, with the investigation continuing into the shooting and the role of those allegedly involved.
In a separate development earlier, 22-year-old Pranjal Thakran, a resident of Kharkhoda in Haryana's Sonipat district, was arrested in Indore on October 24, in a joint operation by the Mumbai Crime Branch and Indore Crime Branch.
Thakran was brought to Mumbai on transit remand and produced before the Esplanade Court on October 25, where the Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion Cell obtained his police custody till October 31.
Investigators suspect Thakran may have provided logistical or other assistance to the alleged shooters. Police are examining his suspected role, contacts, possible criminal antecedents and alleged association with Anil Pandit to determine whether their links had any connection with the firing.
According to preliminary information, Thakran had travelled from Sonipat to Indore around five days before his arrest to visit his brother, who was undergoing medical treatment there.
Acting on information about his presence in Indore, a Mumbai Crime Branch team travelled to the city and, with assistance from local police, traced and arrested him.
