Days after Maharashtra HSC announced Class 12 results, the University of Mumbai (MU) on Tuesday, May 5, released the detailed schedule for its pre-admission online registration process for undergraduate courses for the academic year 2026-27, in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
In an official statement, MU highlighted that the admission process will cover first-year students applying to three-year degree programmes, four-year Honours and Honours with Research courses, as well as five-year integrated programmes with multiple entry and exit options, as per the guidelines of the Government of Maharashtra.
According to the schedule issued by the MU, the online pre-admission registration process will begin on May 6 and continue until 1 pm on May 21. Students seeking admission to non-professional undergraduate courses such as BA, BSc, BCom, and several specialised programmes must complete this registration through the university's official admission portal.
The first merit list will be published on May 26 at 11 am, followed by document verification and fee payment between May 27 and May 29.
The second and third merit lists will be announced on May 30 and June 4, respectively, with subsequent verification rounds scheduled through early June, while regular classes and orientation programmes are set to commence from June 13.
The university has made pre-admission registration mandatory for a wide range of courses, including traditional streams and emerging fields such as data science, biotechnology, forensic science, and financial markets, across affiliated and autonomous colleges.
Dr Pooja Roundale, director of the board of examinations and evaluation, stated that all admissions will be conducted in accordance with guidelines issued by the university, the state government, and the University Grants Commission. She also noted that admissions to BMS programmes under the All India Council for Technical Education will take place after the declaration of entrance exam results conducted by the CET Cell.
All affiliated and autonomous colleges have been instructed to strictly adhere to the announced timeline, reservation policies, and approved intake capacities while conducting the admission process.
The university added that the pre-admission registration link will go live after 11:00 am on May 6, marking the beginning of the admission cycle for thousands of aspiring undergraduate students across Mumbai and beyond.
