On August 5 morning, an Indian wild boar unexpectedly barged into a Goregaon East residential building through the main gate, sparking panic before alert residents and wildlife rescuers brought the situation under control. A resident told mid-day, "Initially, we believed a stray pig had wandered into the compound. However, we quickly realised it was a wild boar and raised the alarm."
With the animal moving around the society, residents were asked to stay away from the ground floor to avoid any confrontation. Displaying presence of mind, society member Aadesh Chikne carefully guided the wild boar towards a ground-floor storeroom. Once the animal entered, he shut and locked the door, confining it until wildlife rescuers arrived.

âAn adult wild boar displaced from the forests of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) was trapped in a Goregaon housing society. A distress call alerting the forest department was assigned to RAWW's wildlife rescue team, initiating a joint operation to rescue the mammal. The boar had entered a confined area, from where it was safely captured and released back into the wild after a medical evaluation by RAWW's associate veterinarians.'
âThe wild boar entered the society through the main gate and was running around, causing panic among residents. Our society member Aadesh Chikne acted quickly and safely guided it into the storeroom, where it was locked until the forest department and the Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) team arrived for the rescue. Their presence of mind helped prevent any harm to people or the animal.'
