Lucknow: The stringent National Security Act ( NSA) has been slapped on Dr Kafeel Khan , who is lodged in Mathura jail in connection with his anti- CAA speech at the Aligarh Muslim University.
The UP police had arrested Khan from Mumbai on January 29 for u2018 promoting enmity between different religionsu2019 through his speech during an anti- Citizenship ( Amendment) Act ( CAA) protest at AMU on December 12.
Khanu2019s brother Adil said the government wanted him to u201c remain quietu201d. Khan is jailed even though he was granted bail. The NSA allows preventive detention for several months if the authorities believe the person is a threat to national security or law and order.
