The three-day tour, held on February 17, 18 and 19, was organised by social activist Mahesh Pawar under the annual Jeevachi Mumbai initiative of Rasikashray Sanstha, Ghatanji, District Yavatmal
These women, often the most important yet neglected pillar of the agricultural system, were brought to Mumbai to be acknowledged, appreciated and celebrated for their strength
After losing their farmer husbands to debt-driven suicides, many are left alone to shoulder responsibility, rewriting the “7/12 extract” of their own lives while caring for their children and land
With limited support from in-laws or even their parental homes, they continue their daily struggle for survival, facing loneliness and financial burden with remarkable courage
The initiative recognises that the government, administration and society often remain unaware of their silent battles, yet these women persist in building a better future
At Worli Seaface, laughter and shared conversations replaced worry for a while, offering rare and precious moments of peace. “Jeevachi Mumbai – A Journey of Joy” stands as a salute to their resilience, reminding them that their courage is seen, valued and deeply respected
