The initiative was carried out under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Mumbai Zone 2, in the presence of Nirbhaya officers, as part of efforts to recognise women’s rights, equality and their contribution to society

The phones had earlier been reported lost or stolen

The recovery was made possible through the joint efforts of cyber officers, crime detection teams and the zonal cyber laboratory working under police stations in Zone 2

Police officials said teams carried out investigations across multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu to trace the devices

Women who received their recovered phones expressed satisfaction and thanked the Mumbai Police for their efficiency and prompt action
