In the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Tuesday, the Island City, eastern and western suburbs recorded average rainfall of 186.43 mm, 208.78 mm and 238.19 mm, respectively. PIC/ASHISH RAJE

For Tuesday, the IMD forecast "very heavy to extremely heavy" rainfall in Mumbai and suburbs, with occasional gusty winds reaching 45-55 kmph. PIC/ASHISH RAJE

The civic body announced that government and semi-government offices would remain closed on Tuesday, while urging private establishments to allow employees to work from home and avoid unnecessary travel. PIC/ASHISH RAJE

Mumbai experienced heavy rainfall across several suburbs on Tuesday, with Santacruz and Vikhroli bearing the brunt. While Santacruz reported 151.4 mm of rainfall over a six-hour period from 08.30 am to 2.30 pm, Vikhroli received 141.5 mm of rain. PIC/SHADAB KHAN

Several other parts of the suburbs witnessed intense downpours, while areas in South Mumbai, such as Colaba, recorded comparatively lighter showers at 29 mm. PIC/SHADAB KHAN

With life disrupted in parts of Mumbai and Thane due to continuous downpour over the past three days, Deputy CM Ekanth Shinde inspected the Mithi River and the nearby areas in Bandra, as well as a landslide-prone zone at Vikhroli Parksite, where a landslide occurred in Varsha Nagar on Sunday. The heavy rainfall has led to a significant surge in the lake levels. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation data, the combined storage in the seven reservoirs that provide water to Mumbai now stands at 92.42 per cent of full capacity. PIC/SHADAB KHAN

Meanwhile, Western Railway reported delays, while Central Railway announced a complete suspension of suburban services between CSMT and Kurla. PIC/SHADAB KHAN

Road transport was equally affected, with 92 BEST bus routes disrupted across 34 roads due to waterlogging in several parts of the city. PIC/SHADAB KHAN
