Congress leaders Naseem Khan, Satej Patil and Bhai Jagtap, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule also walked along with thousands of functionaries

Raj Thackeray, along with his supporters and party colleague Bala Nandgaonkar, boarded a train at Dadar station and headed to Churchgate

The Shiv Sena (UBT) said the Opposition's 'Satyacha Morcha' here will jolt the Election Commission of India

In an editorial in Saamana, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party said after the Samyukta Maharashtra movement, all parties have wholeheartedly come together for the protection of the Constitution and democracy

The march was in protest against alleged voters list irregularities like multiple entries, wrongful deletions and additions etc. The Opposition has accused the Election Commission of India of turning a blind eye to the issue and have asserted that local body polls in Maharashtra should go ahead only after the shortcomings are rectified

The BJP has been winning since 2014 due to irregularities in the voters list, the Shiv Sena (UBT) alleged

Raj Thackeray said that since local body polls have already been delayed for five years, waiting another year would not be a problem. He urged party workers to inspect the electoral rolls carefully and take strict action against bogus voters

Uddhav Thackeray accused the ruling alliance of “stealing” his party, election symbol, and even his father’s name. “And now, they want to steal votes too,” he said

The protest began from Fashion Street in south Mumbai and concluded at the BMC headquarters, about a kilometre away

NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar described the rally as a strong display of unity and determination to protect the Constitution and parliamentary democracy. He accused the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the state of misusing power to target opponents
