Despite the ban on feeding pigeons, people in Mumbai across various areas were seen feeding them.
The BMC health department is in the process of drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for effective local administrative actions regarding the ban on feeding pigeons.
BMC's health department is all set to release the guidelines for the citizens in the coming week. The guidelines will provide do’s and don’ts regarding pigeon feeding in public.
The query on the pigeon feeding issue was raised by Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Manisha Kayande on Thursday during the Maharashtra Monsoon Assembly Session 2025.
Removal of the shed that was constructed by locals, which was an encroachment on the BMC structure, has been done successfully to implement the ban on pigeon feeding.
