Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day festival, celebrated with great devotion in India especially in states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and even across the world

Lord Ganesha, also known as Gajanana, Dhoomraketu, Ekdanta, Vakrtunda and Siddhi Vinayaka, is revered as the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune

On Sunday, as devotees gathered to welcome Lord Ganesha, the police personnel and volunteers ensured safety and crowd control, while devotees maintained a spirit of devotion and celebration

The devotees gathered in huge numbers for the grand departure of the Lord Ganesh idol which left the Parel workshop for Surat by road

The idol drew large crowds, with devotees offering prayers and capturing photos before it began its journey

The 10-day Ganpati festival begins on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the month of Bhadrapada, which typically falls between August and September, as per the Gregorian calendar

Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Utsav, it marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity

Lord Ganesha is always invoked at the start of new endeavours, intellectual pursuits and business ventures
