The IMD’s nowcast warning, issued around 5:50 PM, predicted light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds reaching 30–40 km/h in the city, valid for the next three hours
Residents were advised to remain indoors during the period, avoid taking shelter under trees during lightning, and stay alert to real-time weather updates. "Caution is necessary during such rapid weather shifts," the IMD warned
In neighbouring Thane, the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) reported a sudden burst of rain—14.23 mm between 5:30 and 6:30 PM
This brief downpour pushed Thane’s seasonal rainfall total to 3,222.66 mm, showing that while the monsoon may have receded, Mumbai and its suburbs aren’t done with rain just yet
Authorities continue to monitor the shifting weather patterns, as isolated thunderstorms remain a possibility in coming days under the yellow alert
