Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials yesterday arrested a 30-year-old gramsevak of Maranewadi village in Mulshi taluka for accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer.

Dilip Dinkar Marane (30), a resident of Ambegaon Urawade, had applied for funds to dig a well in his farm under the Rojgar Hami Yojana and the Rs 2 lakh cheque was issued to him recently.

"When Marane had gone to collect his cheque at Devidas Dhage's office, he demanded Rs 5,000 to hand over the cheque," Superintendent of Police Sarang Avad said.

Marane then approached the ACB officials and lodged a complaint against Dhage. "We briefed Marane to approach Dhage with the said amount and asked him to call the suspect near a hotel in Pirangut in Mulshi taluka on Tuesday for handing over the money," ACP B M Kale said yesterday.

The ACB officials said they laid a trap near the hotel in the afternoon and nabbed Dhage red-handed. u00a0
