Nashik Commissioner of Police S Jagannathan said yesterday, "The Mumbai Police, after finding out that the phone was active in Nashik Road Central Prison, came here for investigation. The owner of the phone is an undertrial being tried under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act and Misar is appearing as SPP in that case. The accused committed a crime in Nashik for which he was booked under the Act."

"We have seized the phone and, prima facie, we don't see any such conspiracy hatched by him through that phone. Preliminary investigation has revealed that he was using the phone to stay in touch with his family. We are, however, seeking his police custody for further investigation and a case has been registered," he added.
