Tip-offs from seniors help junior officers evade raids
Corrupt officials allegedly get to know about raids much before the Lokayukta reaches the spot.
This is all thanks to corrupt senior government officials who leaking confidential information to tainted juniors.
This was confirmed by Justice N Santosh Hegde, the lokayukta.
Asset details sought
Deliberating on the charges, Hegde said that Lokayukta officials seek asset details of the targeted corrupt officials from the respective heads of the department before pursuing the case.

This procedure is mandatory for the Lokayukta sleuths to compare the suspected officer's disproportionate wealth with his actual source of income before laying hands on him.
It is mandatory for every government official to declare his assets to the head of his respective department but still many officials do not follow it.
Hegde said he would write to the government to ensure strict rules so the Lokayukta gets asset details of all government officials every year (preferably by June).
Letter to govtHegde had written a letter to the state government to make it mandatory for corporators as well to declare their assets.
He said, "The money spent on the election and the financial status of the elected representatives, has direct links with corrupt practices that need to be investigated."
The chief secretary has assured to take necessary steps in this regard.
So far, only members of legislative assemblies and councils have been submitting their asset declaration to Lokayukta.
