According to the statement given by the victim, Sangeeta, she was having dinner with her husband Madan Madan Lal alias Badal when a stray bullet hit her on the palm, then the temple and finally got lodged in her nape. The incident took place around 9pm in Sabji Mandi area of north Delhi.

The police, meanwhile, have arrested Madan, who has been involved in other cases earlier as well. Looking at his past record, the police decided to register an FIR against him themselves under Section 307 of IPC at Sabji Mandi police station.

"Sangeeta has a deep bullet injury mark on her face, cheek and hand. She was rushed to Bara Hindu Rao hospital and then shifted to Safdarjung hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical by doctors," said a police source.

Meanwhile, Madan's sister Rekha also said Madan was innocent. Sangeeta, who is too unfit to give a statement, just gestured her husband did not shoot her. Sangeeta and Madan got married around a month ago in Arya Samaj Temple.
