Cops trace the terror mail written to the media to a laptop of Patan-based businessman whose friend allegedly penned it to keep cops on their toes

City Crime Branch officials arrested a 23-year-old youth from Patan in North Gujarat for sending a hoax mail, purportedly in the name of Indian Mujahuddin and claiming responsibility of the bomb blast in Delhi on September 7 and threatening a terror attack in the city.

Sudhir Sinha, Commissioner of Police, told mediapersons yesterday that Monu Oza was arrested from Patan after the terror-mail written to media was traced to a laptop of Patan-based businessman Raju Yadav.

Further inquiries revealed that Monu had used his friend's laptop and sent the mail in the name of Indian Mujahiddin. Monu, who has studied upto Standard XI and was working as a data entry operator.

He used the name of Al Saiyad Al Huri, a terrorist in FBI s wanted list in the mail. When he did not receive any response from the mail to media, he sent the mail to Delhi police who swung in action and the mail was traced to a computer in Patan.

During interrogation, Monu confessed before the police that he was depressed after he lost his job in Ahmedabad. He had a strained relationship with his family. So he left the city and was staying in Patan for last six months and working with Yadav.

Monu claimed that when bomb blasts took place, he was worried about the safety of his family. He told police that he sent the terror-mail in order to keep the Gujarat police on high alert so that no terror attack takes place in the city and his family remains secure. But since Ahmedabad is a possible target of terrorists, the police is continuously on alert. He also said what Monu sent was a third mail to media but there has been a fourth one which is yet to be traced. Sinha said that there is a possibility that like the earlier case, this too turns out to be a hoax.
