Pubs and bars will be shut today; malls, other organisations to remain open

With CM Yeddyurappa trying to prove majority in the Vidhana Soudha today, Bangaloreans will have to put up with yet another dry day while the cops have issued their routine prohibitory orders. As per the orders, the dry day will commence at 6 am and end at midnight.u00a0

Praveen Sood, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic and Security), said, "Bangaloreans will have nothing to worry about. Activity will be restricted only to the Vidhana Soudha. They are free to travel anywhere in the city."

She added, "People can gather in groups just as long as there is no anti-social element to it. But this is routine."

Mohan Kumar, deputy commissioner, Excise Department (East), said, "Now that the commissioner has declared it a dry day we will obey the orders and inform liquor stores in the city to do the same." Other than pubs and bars, malls, restaurants and other organisations will remain open.
