You have to be careful while shopping in Delhi or you might end up spending much more than you intended. And we aren't just talking about bargaining skills here. Bharpthy Jayaknath, a medical professional from Down Under, was robbed of 9000 Australian Dollars, while shopping in south Delhi.

"She came to India around two days ago and is living with a friend in Maidan Garhi area. She went to a readymade garment shop named Delhi Heart in Old Ishwar Nagar for purchasing some clothes. While she was busy shopping, someone stole 9000 Australian Dollars from her purse.


She realised something was amiss only after a while. She then narrated the incident to her Indian friend who called the cops," said a police official.The official said that they have taken the statement of the victim and an FIR has been lodged. Police said that they have also questioned the owner of the store.

Speaking to this reporter, the victim's friend said that the doctor had come to India to know more about the nation's culture and heritage.
Rs 25 lakh stolen

Meanwhile, a theft of Rs 25 lakh was reported from the house of a government official in Vasant Kunj area of south Delhi. Police officials said that the victim Rakesh Verma had gone to attend a marriage function when the thieves struck at his house and allegedly made off with cash and valuables worth Rs 25 lakh.
