After reviewing the security threat at the funnel point on NH 8 near the airport, the police have decided to book people gathered there for trespassing, wrongfully parking cars and even assembling.
After the Mumbai attacks, various security agencies had pointed out the vulnerability of the NH 8 stretch that grazes past the airport.
According to officials of DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited), the security of airplane taking off from the airport has been a source of major concern.
According to the officials, it was observed that a large number of cars were routinely parked in the area and many people gathered there.
"The issue of roads being close to the runaway has been a cause for worry for all of us because planes pass right above the road and can easily be harmed by unscrupulous elements," said Arun Arora, spokesperson of DIAL.
The police have now banned assembling on both sides of the road for a stretch of 250 metres.
