On November 28, two men barged into the Syndicate bank ATM counter at RPC Layout in the wee hours and looted cash from the machine. However, bank officials are yet to ascertain the stolen amount.
Sunanda R Nayak, the bank manager, filed a complaint with the Chandra Layout police after he got to know of the theft.
In her complaint, Nayak said that the theft occurred between 3 and 3.50 am when two men covering their faces with hand scarf entered the ATM situated on west of Chord Road. They proceeded to break open the machine using an iron rod and screwdrivers.
They left leaving the front metal cover of the machine open. A CCTV camera however recorded the entire incident. Bank officials who rushed to the ATM found around Rs 8 lakh cash in the chest.
However the officials could not confirm the stolen amount as the cash was deposited by another section and they are yet to respond.
Admitting the lack of security at the ATM center, Nayak said that the center is unguarded and asked the Chandra Layout police to provide them with some.
The Chandra Layout police have taken up an attempt to theft case and are investigating. "We are trying to identify the accused with the help of State crime record bureau section," an investigating officer said.

Meanwhile, Asma Ahmed, manager, Axis Bank, at 7th block Koramangala has filed a complaint that the bank staff has found fake currency worth around Rs 22,000 from the bank chest.
The incident occurred when the staff was counting the currency notes to deposit them at the main branch. During the verification, it was found that there were around 20 fake currency notes of Rs 1,000 and 24 currency notes of Rs 100 respectively. The Koramangala police have taken up the case.
