"Women should be aware of the health issues during pregnancy," said actress Raveena Tandon, who was in the Capital on Thursday to attend a joint conference organised by the Planning Commission of India and UNICEF.
Recalling her pregnancy, the star said she started taking all requisite supplements even before she went to the doctor. "The doctor was very pleased knowing that I was already taking nutritional supplements," she said.
The mother of two expressed her shock at the fact that around 78,000 women in India die every year due to pregnancy-related problems.
She called for raising awareness about pre-natal and post-natal care, where each member of the family plays an active role in ensuring that would-be mothers give birth to healthy children.
