Family relaxing at home finds abuses and blows hurled at it, but does not know why
A family evening at home turned sour when neighbours allegedly beat up and intimidated the couple and their minor daughter.
On Sunday evening, Jonnathan Antonio (28), his wife Pooja A, their minor daughter and his brother-in-law Dinesh were relaxing at home, cooking food and listening to music, when a female neighbour allegedly peeped out from the kitchen window and started shouting abuses at Pooja.
According to the complaint Jonnathan filed at Banaswadi police station, the woman said to Pooja, "You are a prostitute" and "You sleep with everyone." When Jonnathan asked her why she was shouting, the woman, her husband and their son came and allegedly beat him. Other neighbours intervened and sent the three back.
Act II
An hour later, when Jonnathan was away and only Pooja and their daughter were at home, the trio returned with a gang of 10-12 members and ransacked the house. According to the complaint, the invaders beat up and manhandled Pooja.
When MiD-DAY contacted Jonnathan he refused to comment and said, "It's our personal problem and you need not intervene." However, Shiv Shankar, sub-inspector of Banaswadi police station, said, "Jonnathan has filed an FIR and the neighbouring family has filed a counter FIR. I was told that they wanted to settle the case among themselves, but this can't happen immediately. Once the FIR is filed, procedure has to be followed. It will take at least 45 days."
