SEBI chief CB Bhave on Saturday held discussions with Corporate Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta and his top officials, as part of concerted action between the government and the regulator to probe the Satyam scam.
Gupta, who today apprised Prime Minister on the latest developments on Satyam, was accompanied by Corporate Affairs Secretary Anurag Goyal during the 20-minute meeting with Bhave.
The regulatory chief had flown in to the capital this morning and is expected to meet other ministers and officials in the finance ministry.
Emerging from the meeting, Bhave declined to comment on the discussions he had with Gupta.
SFIO team asked to get permission to quiz Raju
A team from the Serious Fraud Investigation Office of the Corporate Affairs Ministry today sought access to Satyam's founder Ramalinga Raju, but was told by the Andhra Pradesh police to get permission from the magistrate.
The SFIO team reached the state Director General of Police's office to question Raju and his brother Rama Raju, who were arrested late last night, but were asked to get permission from a magistrate.
Additional Director General of Police-CID A Sivanarayana said: "They (SFIO) have to obtain permission from a magistrate."
He said Satyam's Chief Finance Officer Vadlamani Srinivas has not yet been arrested.
Earlier, a SEBI team had sought access to Raju, but was also asked to follow the same procedure.
