Mallamma Bidari, who shares her surname with city Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari, threatened to drag him to court yesterday for issuing a clarification asserting that she claims to be his sister to her work done.

The police chief had alleged that she was misusing his name by trying to influence police officers and other members of the public to gain undue advantage in Jamkhandi Taluk and Devanahalli Taluk of Bangalore District.
However, refuting the allegations, she said, "I have neither claimed to be his sister nor have I led people to believe I am his relative. I am in no way related to Shankar Bidari. In fact, I hail from a family of agriculturalists and belong to an altogether different caste."
Besides, Mallamma has demanded an apology from the police commissioner foru00a0 dragging her name and defaming her, without verifying whether the allegations were true.
Mallamma, who has been an entrepreneur for the past nine years, said that the police chief should have exercised due diligence before issuing a press statement that has affected her reputation in social, political and business circles.
She alleged that it's an attempt to help her political rivals who have influenced Bidari to misuse his official capacity.
Mallamma, who was earlier was associated with the JD(S) and had contested assembly elections in Goa, said she has written to the police chief asking him to prove the allegations, failing which she would slap a legal notice and contemplate a defamation case against him.
