From school admissions to the recipe of your child's favourite dish, a new mommy website tells you all you might need to know about your little tyke

It all started in 2007, when Bhavani Raman, a software engineer and the mother of two young children landed in Chennai from the United States. Like any mom her first thoughts on homecoming were to fix schools, baby sitters, doctors among other essential things for her kids.

But soon she found out that unlike USA, information in this country on children and their upbringing cannot always be sought with a click of the mouse. Thus was born blrmoms.com, a website that aims to solve the issues and queries of all mothers across the globe.

Revealing that what started in Chennai as a thought has shaped up to be a platform that takes care of mothers and their kids from head to toe, Raman says, "This effort is by moms for moms. The idea is to discuss issues that young mothers face from health to a child's admission to a school."

The website, which was started in Chennai, has at present around 30,000 members. Encouraged by the response, Raman in October 2009 launched a Bangalore version, which also by now has around 5,000 registered members.

The website lists all kinds of information from best music school for your kid to the best parlour near your home. It also has a 'Ask the expert' section where gynecologists, pediatricians, counsellors, lactation consultants, dieticians, cooking experts and others provide answers to all kinds of mommy and toddler related queries.

All the articles and responses are by mums. Anyone can visit the website but an identity verification process is followed by calling you before you are allowed to become a member in this world of moms.

Explaining that the check for membership is to prevent men posing as women and joining the site, Raman says, "We want more mothers to come up and join the forum. With more people, there will be more solutions and views to one problem."
