Many techies chose the DPL over IPL last weekend.


TRIUMPANT LOT: Cisco team which won the DPL trophy

The Drivers' Premier League, organised by techies of Outer Ring Road Companies' Association (ORRCA), saw eight software companies come together to bat for their traffic supervisors and cab drivers in a truncated version of T20 the T10.

Cisco walking away with the trophy at the Intel grounds after batting first and setting Accenture a target of 139. Accenture fought back but could only manage 108 runs.u00a0

u00a0Vijay from Accenture and Praveen from Cisco were declared man of the series and match respectively.

u00a0"It's exciting," said Praveen. "DPL matches were well played and it's a change for us."

Other companies which participated were Aditya Birla Minacs, Cisco, AOL, Honeywell, Intel, HP, Accenture and Northern Trust.

A purpose

There was a purpose to the league. Traffic supervisors and drivers were given lessons in traffic discipline by ORRCA members, who are trying to put in place a sound traffic management system on the Outer Ring Road in association with the police.u00a0

u00a0"We hope our interaction with cabbies will contribute to safe traffic on the ORR," said Seetharam Vishwanath, manager, America Online. He promises that the DPL will be a regular.
