Cops bust loud party

More than a hundred people, including some foreigners, were arrested by the Ramanagaram police early this morning.

Police said they had seized liquor and musical instruments, but did not mention hard drugs. It is not clear if it was a "rave party", although informally, police and the media have been describing it as one. A rave is described as an all-nite party with dancing and electronically synthesised music, but police say participants at such parties do psychedelic drugs and go into a delirium.

Ramanagaram police raided Padma Thota (farm) near the big banyan tree at Taverekere, off Mysore Road, when the loud music disturbed local residents.

They have arrested three men, said to be the hosts.
