A cracker that looked like a crude bomb had residents of Rajajinagar on tenterhooks till the police came along and doused it with a bucket of water, saying it was just a prank.
Passers-by noticed an object shaped like a "grenade" around 10.30 am yesterday morning near an open area close to Navrang theatre. Some of them informed the police control room. The police, along with the bomb disposal squad, rushed to the spot and put sandbags around the "bombs" to prevent damage.
When the experts took a close look, they found it was a cracker with two protruding wicks. They doused it with a bucket of water and sent it to FSL.
Joint commission of police (crime) Alok Kumar confirmed it was au00a0 rocket cracker, generally used during festivals and marriage ceremonies.
He said it was prank or someone could have dropped it by mistake.
