If you have crooned the famous song Aicha or Walou, here's your chance to see the singers up close and personal. Outlandish is in the city to promote their latest album Sound of Rebel. The three-member band consists of Isam Bachiri, Waqas Ali Qadri and Lenny Martinez. Interestingly, they are childhood friends and each of them belongs to different countries. The GUIDE spoke to Waqas Ali Qadri on Outlandish's journey so far.u00a0

How do you blend your cultural background with your music?
All of us were brought up in Denmark but our backgrounds differ. I am from Pakistan while Isam Bachiri is a Moroccan and Lenny Martinez is of Cuban and Honduran descent. We infuse our collective experience into our music.

Tell us about the music scene in Denmark.
We are a small country but have a very active music scene. Musicians keep composing interesting soundtracks and some of our albums are blockbusters in the UK, Ireland and USA (which happens to be our biggest market). Local bands are also making their presence felt. The influence of Bollywood is visible but currently there's more of electronica meeting Indi-Pop.u00a0

How was the response to your performance in Mumbai?
We were surprised to see such a huge crowd turn up for our performance. We used to get fan mail asking us to come to India but never expected such a warm response.

Tell us more about your latest album.
Sound of Rebel released in Denmark in the month of May. We are launching a two-CD pack of our latest album exclusively for our Indian fans that will include some of our earlier tracks which have been reworked.
The new album was out after a long gap since we were busy with the business side of the music and could not focus on composing new songs. We had a long chat and decided that it was time to create music despite all the odds. The album speaks of those moments and the desire to go against the routine. It took us five months to finish the album and it has party-oriented numbers.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0

How has Indian music influenced you?
I was born in Pakistan where it is impossible to miss Bollywood music. Though we have popular rock bands and singers like Noor Jahan, our film industry is nothing compared to Bollywood. So, we have grown up listening to Hindi songs like Disco Dancer. I also like listening tou00a0 songs by Kailash Kher and Euphoria.

What can we expect from your performance tomorrow?
Our performance will have a mix of latest tracks along with some old numbers. There will be some spontaneous acts as well which will make the gig more interesting and we will be interacting with the crowds.
