Bodies of a senior couple were found in their Ashok Vihar residence in north-west Delhi on Monday. Their son Samarth found the couple in a pool of blood in their room, with their wrists slashed.
He rushed them to the hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. The victims were identified as Arvind Mathur (56) and his wife Rekha Mathur (53). Arvind worked as a financial manager in a firm in Kundli and Rekha was a housewife.
According to police, the family were undergoing a huge financial crisis and this might be the reason why the couple decided to take the extreme step. Meenu Choudhary, DCP (north-west), said, "Their son discovered the bodies.
A knife and an unidentified blue-coloured solution were also discovered in the room. The bodies have been sent to the Babu Jagjeevan Ram hospital for post-mortem. No suicide note was recovered."
The victims' daughter Nidhi works at a private bank while Samarth is a student of Delhi University. The family had been living in Ashok Vihar for the last eight months.
