The Cubbon park police have busted a fake marks card racket and arrested a 32-year-old HR consultant, who was helping unemployed from North India to secure jobs in various companies.

The racket came to light after Someshwar Dekka, collected money from some jobseekers and did not fulfill his promise of getting them jobs.
Based on the tip off, a team of police officials posing as job aspirants approached Dekka and after he fell into their trap, they nabbed him.
Following his arrest, the cops seized several fake marks cards and discovered he had over 24 bank accounts and had conducted transactions to the tune of several lakhs.
During questioning, Dekka confessed that he has been operating this racket for a few years and has managed to procure jobs for several youths with the help of fake certificates from various universities.
A school dropout, Dekka arrived in the city in search of a job a few years ago and joined a HR consultancy firm, where he came in contact with racket-kingpin Sudheer Rai, and his associate Amith Kumar.
"The trio started creating fake marks cards of universities in Assam, Jharkhand and other states. They also sold marks cards of technical courses in VTU," said Devraj, ACP.
"During interrogation, he revealed that he had obtained 24 account numbers from various banks and used to charge between Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 per marks card," Devraj added.
The police have recovered Rs 94,000 in cash and several fake marks cards and convocation certificates of various universities. Meanwhile, efforts are on to nab the other accused in the case and investigations are on to verify financial transactions conducted through the accounts held by the accused.
