WHAT's ON gives you a lowdown of what's in store for you at the first anniversary celebrations of The Urban Ashram
This weekend, The Urban Ashram completes one year, and celebrates the occasion with a bunch of activities. Called Art with a Heart, the event includes Drum Circles (where people sit in a circle to try their hand at percussion), seminars on beauty, sessions on yoga and meditation, art and photography exhibitions, chanting sessions, and social discussions by Blue Cross and Seva Sahayog. We spoke to Sonia Revankar, a member of the Ashram about the event.

What was the idea behind Art with a Heart?
We wanted to promote awareness about art. We have none of the regular stuff you see at a fancy exhibition, no food stalls, just a bunch of unique events that will bring something special for participants.
Tell us what we can expect.
The Drum Circle will be conducted by musician Varun Venkit, and is stress-buster programme. Participants get to play instruments including the Congo from Africa, and dance to its rhythm.
The seminar on beauty concentrates on grooming that is possible through the use of home-made products. The Dog Adoption Programme puts up three adorable homeless puppies for you to take home.
The exhibitions feature a wide range of hand-crafted wood items, abstract and fine art photographs by Mayuresh and paintings by Kanchan that are inspired by typography, sketches and contemporary design.
Who do you think should drop in?
The event is a must-attend for the creative lot, those who like experimentation, and who are active in socially relevant causes.u00a0
