Banks are insisting that producers clear loans taken from them for financing films before the movies are released
A host of completed Kannada films are held up for release as they are hit by the fleeting financial crises. The big flicks that are awaiting release include Jothegara, Bhimoos Bang Bang Kids, Nannavanu and Thipparally Tharalegalu.
Money first
In the case of Jothegara, producer Ashwini Ram Prasad had taken a loan of about Rs 2 crore from the IDBI for the film after his earlier movie Jogi became a blockbuster at the box office.

However, his subsequent film Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melidhe doomed and hence, the bank had locked the film, which was scheduled to release in June 2009.
And now, the release of Jothegara has been indefinitely postponed, as Prasad failed to repay the loan.
Long listLikewise, Thipparally Tharalegalu and Bhimoos Bang Bang Kids are also caught up in financial crisis. The shooting for Thipparally Tharalegalu started in 2007 and the movie was expected to hit the cinema halls in 2008.
Whereas Bhimoos Bang Bang Kids, which is also being made in other languages, was about to get released in 2009.
However, their release has been stalled as filmmakers have failed to clear the loan that they had obtained from the banks.
Not before MayS V Rajendra Singh Babu, the director of Thipparally Tharalegalu, told MiD DAY, "I had taken the loan and I'm paying it back gradually. However, I won't be able to release my film before May."
Besides, financial crises, films like llasa Uthsaha and Mungaru Male are held up for release, as filmmakers don't have any distributors taking interest in their projects.
Whereas Krishna Nee Letag Baro, directed by actor Mohan has been delayed as the producer of the film wanted to release it 2010 for some irrational reasons.
