Catch world-class cinema by Marathi legend Raja Paranjpe this week

A great filmmaker who specialised in making epic films. That's what the city can watch at the first Raja Paranjpe Film Festival organised by the Raja Paranjape Pratishthan which kicks off tomorrow on the veteran filmmaker's birth centenary year. Organised in association with the National Film Archives of India (NFAI) and Aashay Film Club, the seven-day festival ends on April 20.

Raja Paranjape is considered to be the architect of post-independence Marathi cinema. Spanning a long career of around 40 years, he was associated with about 80 films in Marathi as well as in Hindi; as an actor, director, producer, writer and even singer at times. His films often projected his ideals as well as social and personal values.

Virendra Chitrav, secretary of the Raja Paranjape Pratishthan, said, "Raja Paranjape is a legend as well as a symbol. We want to bring out the different aspects of the great man and present it to the people. This is arranged specially so that the young generation gets a chance to watch these films," signed off Virendra Chitrav.
