Four people were injured when a truck ferrying four farmers hit a car after its driver fell asleep behind the wheel.


Four people were injured when a truck ferrying four farmers hit a car after its driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

The incident took place at 1.30 am near Chikbellapur when Obala Reddy (32), Rajashekar (20), Pullaiaha (60), and Porthalaiah (40) were returning back to their village in Ananthpura district after selling their yield in the city at KR Market.

Sixty-year-old Pullaiaha suffered severe injuries and is kept under observation.


The injured were rushed to Bowring Hospital and were admitted at 4:45 am this morning. Although, the injured suffered fracture tou00a0 the knees and broke their legs, the driver of the truck escaped unhurt.

Eshwar Reddy, Obala's cousin, said, "It was a quite a serious accident and could have turned fatal."

Dr Shankar, medical officer at Bowring hospital, said, "They have suffered numerous injuries.

They'll be transferred to National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Science (NIMHANS) if their condition worsens."

No police case has been registered against the truck driver yet.
