This is going to be an event where the cause is bigger than the showstopper. The Electronics City Industries' Association (ELCIA) is organising The Shaan Show on March 5 with the aim of mobilising funds for their midday meal scheme for schools.

Initially, two schools were selected in 2004 with a total of 500 children being fed under the midday meal scheme. As of today, the trust, in partnership with International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), supplies food under the Akshaya Patra Scheme with the cost sponsored by ELCIA and feeds around 5,500 students on a daily basis.

The cost of feeding one child is Rs 10. Event organiser Arjun Rao from The Specialist Inc, an event management company,u00a0 said, "Buying a ticket of Rs 600 will go a long way in feeding a kid for 60 days."

To do all this work, funds need to be raised and Arjun believes in creating the right noise. Apart from attending the function and having fun, people will also be contributing money towards the midday meal scheme.

"A win-win situation for all," said Arjun, describingu00a0 the event.
