A gang introducing themselves as Lokayukta investigators kidnapped an engineer at 11.30 pm yesterday. The gang had called him for a meeting, following which they whisked him away in their car.
The kidnappers later called his family, demanding Rs 11 lakh. The family members expressed their inability to arrange such a huge amount, but agreed to pay Rs 3 lakh immediately. The amount was delivered near Town Hall, but the victim was not released.
The Cubbon Park police, who have taken up a kidnapping case have set out on au00a0 manhunt for the kidnappers.u00a0 ACP Devraj refused to comment, stating that this was a sensitive issue and he does not want to put the victim's life at risk.
