Noida B-school stands by girl, plans inquiry into e-mail sleaze
A DAY after MiD DAY broke the news of a Noida MBA student leaking the video of his college mate-cum-girlfriend doing a striptease for him, the institute authorities moved in quickly to identify and counsel the 23-year-old girl as well as speak to the boy.
Sources in the B-school also said the management was planning to hold an inquiry into how the sex clip was sent to a number of people from the girl's e-mail.
A campus sex video scandal has come back to haunt the country again after the last one at a south Delhi school in 2004 shocked the country and inspired parts of the recent Anurag Kashyap movie Dev D.
The girl apparently told the B-school authorities that her boyfriend betrayed her trust by filming her private moments from a hidden camera, getting into her mail since he knew her password, and sending the video out to almost her entire contact list.
The institute told the girl that it would stand by her and help her concentrate on her studies, said a source, adding that teachers are trying their best to counsel her and emotionally back her up during the crisis.
The boy, college sources said, had denied filming the video in the first place.
"The institute has nothing to do with the clip since it happened outside and one cannot monitor personal lives," said a spokesperson for the institution. "But we will investigate the case. If there is substance to it, we'll take the strictest action against the person who put the video out." The video shows the girl stripping to music for apparently a mobile camerau00a0which zooms in and out once or twiceu00a0inside what seems like a regular youngster's bedroom with a laptop and a music system.
