India introduces the first at-airport spa experience, with the launch of O2 Spa at the Mumbai international airport

The next time you take an international flight out of the city, you can look forward to soaking your feet in bath-salt infused warm water during a relaxing foot massage. The authorities at Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) have launched the O2 spa at the departure lounge of the International Terminal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). So, rather than vegetate before a television screen that plays news in loop, we suggest you complete your immigration and security formalities and settle in for a soothing spa treatment.

The spa is equipped with five work stations for foot massages and five specially- designed chairs for neck and body massages. With manicure, pedicure and facials on offer, women passengers are going to be one happy bunch. Mumbai resident, designer Suvarna Kale is a frequent traveler and is looking forward to enjoying a leisurely spa treatment that she believes will be a great way to kill waiting time after immigration.

The spa is set to introduce the Fish Foot Therapy, a skin exfoliating technique thatu00a0 is a rage in Europe, China, Singapore and Turkey. All you have to do is surrender your feet to the "doctor fish" that swim in a bowl of warm water. These fish (Garra rufa) are native to Turkish towns, Sivas and Kangal, and are a ravenous bunch that eat away dead and scaly skin softened by the warm water, leaving you with pink, smooth peds.
