In spite of chats and walls, we're lonely hearts. Kazi Nasir's solo show tell you why

Call rates are so cheap these days that nightmares of exorbitant bills don't haunt like they used to a few years back. Even internet has become remarkably affordable. Plus, the modes of communication have become fast. Clearly, there are no reasons why we not should be connected with our friends and family.

But, dropping call rates and easy accessibility, do they really mean we're better connected with everyone in our circle than we used to when an inland letter would take seven days to reach its destination?

"Technologically, we have created so many things but psychologically we're living in a deserted island. We don't need anyone physically. This isolation creates frustration and if people don't come out this closed chamber, we will be further isolated," remarks Kazi whose ongoing exhibition, Isolation, Black Ship, etc, intends to differ from the obvious. The artist, who's also a wildlife photographer, has used pure acrylic colour and watercolours on canvas.

"For my current body of works, I've been inspired by 19th century Russian writer Alexander Herzen's short story Who is to blame?. I've used war planes and warships, monstrous exhaust pipes, self-portraits, roses with thorns, fire-emitting tankers, fiery celestial bodies raining from the heaven and smoky skies," signs off the artist.
