Advocate Manchekar takes back statement onu00a0 defending Baig after Sena, BJP protests

Advocate Sushil Manchekar, who had shown readiness to represent German Bakery blast accused Himayat Baig (29), retracted his statement after protests by the BJP and the Shiv Sena.

The Pune Bar Association had appealed to all its members against representing Baig. Manchekar had protested against this and said such an appeal was unconstitutional.

but after BJP and Shiv Sena workers staged a demonstration outside his Pimpri residence, calling him anu00a0 enemy of the nation, he retracting his statement.

Manchekar said, "I had only protested against the association's decision and that does not mean that I will take up Baig's case."

Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe visited Manchekar and asked him not to accept Baig's case.
