New Delhi: JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar sustained external injuries during the attack on him at the Patiala House court complex, his medical examination report showed even as Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi refuted the allegations.

The medical report noted that there were multiple abrasions on his left foot and nose, apart from tenderness in his left toe, a police source said yesterday. Reacting to this development, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said, "My officers have told me that the allegations (of attack on Kanhaiya) are incorrect. It won't be appropriate to comment further on the matter as is it pending before the Supreme Court."

Kumar was produced in the court on Wednesday, where a group of men dressed in lawyers' robes unleashed a brazen attack on him and others, which included journalists, who were present there. Following the incident, Bassi was severely criticised for alleged inaction with regard to the violence.
