Berend van den Berg and Anne Chris from Duo in Unison

Get a taste of global music this week as a Dutch band Duo in Unison is in the city. While the two-piece band usually consists of Berend van den Berg (piano) and Anne Chris (vocals), Anne will not be joining Berend for the upcoming performance.

Describing his music, Berend says it's "western-oriented Jazz, which perfectly blends African and European music." He adds that Jazz requires very little effort to listen to and can blend well with Indian Classical Music as well. As for Indian music, he recalls his first encounter was with Ravi Shankar (who was with the Beatles then).

"I've also started to listen to Indian ragas and it has really impressed me," he states.
The pianist is also familiar with Bollywood and confesses that he is impressed by the song and dance numbers in Hindi films.

From: 6.30 pm
At: SGS Mall, Camp.
