The Special Deputy Commissioner (Bangalore Urban) has only 24 hrs to explain his case in order to save his jobAfter being caught red-handed by Lokayukta investigators, Ramanjaneya, Special Deputy Commissioner (Bangalore Urban) spent much of yesterday evening being interrogated by authorities until midnight.

presented before the civil magistrate at the National Games Village.

To convert the 5.14-acre agriculture land into residential plots, Ramanjaneya had allegedly demanded a
Rs 2 lakh bribe. The landlord agreed to meet the Karnataka administrative service officer's demand and paid Rs 50,000 as the first installment.
However, Narayanaswamy approached the Lokayukta's office and filed a complaint. Following which, a trap
was laid out to trap the errant official.
Narayanaswamy met with Gangappa, to pay the Rs 50,000, he was asked to meet with another colleague. When the money changed hands, the Lokayukta detectives moved in and took them into custody.
It was only at 12.20 am, that the DC and his accomplices were taken to meet with the civil magistrate at the National Games Village.
Judge C B Hippargi ordered that the men be taken into judicial custody until someone posts bail to free them.
Ramanjaneya's lawyer, Gopala Swamy, said, "After the judge took into consideration the fact that he's suffering from cardiac problems and low blood pressure which his doctor can confirm, bail is now an option." He added, "If he is not out on bail in the next 24 hours, he will be suspended. But he gets the bail, he'll stay on as DC."
