Though the family members helped the police catch the kidnappers, they are now ready to leave Bangalore for fear of their lives.
The kidnap
Syed Nazeeb (25), an insurance company executive, was kidnapped by his 'friend' Nooruddin, on Monday.
According to Syed Nufail, Nazeeb's brother, Nooruddin with others barged into his house and kidnapped Nazeeb and later demanded Rs 60,000 as ransom.
Nufail got to know of the kidnap from his wife while he was returning from Hyderabad. He immediately filed a complaint at the Hennur police station.u00a0
Based on his information, police laid a trap for the kidnappers at Shivajinagar, where Nufail was asked to pay the ransom. The gang was caught in the act.
Reason
According to Nufail, Nazeeb was introduced to Nooruddin through a common friend, a few days back. When Nooruddin said he had some financial problems, Nazeeb loanedu00a0 him Rs 35,000. He also helped him contact an astrologer to resolve his problems.
After a couple of days, Nooruddin called up Nazeeb saying that he had been cheated by the astrologer and needed more money. When Nazeeb refused to help him, Nooruddin threatened him. Nazeeb told his brother about the incident, who promised to resolve the issue once he returned to the city. But Nazeeb was kidnapped before Nufail came back.
Dreams dashed
Nufail saidu00a0 he later came to know that the police had released the accused on personal bail. "Nooruddin had told us that he had contacts with the rowdy elements and would harm us in anyway. We thought it would be safe for Nazeeb to go back to his hometown," Nufail said.
"We had come to Bangalore with a lot of hope. Now we are left with no other option but to leave the city, "Nufail told MiD DAY.
