The Supersonics, an Indie/Punk band that made it to the rolling stones list of Top 10 artists to watch out for, is coming to town to launch their debut album at a gig
Their single, In Memory Of was voted as a Must Have Download by Rolling Stones magazine in October 2008.
They were in the list of the Top Ten Artists to Watch Out for in the very next month. And now, The Supersonics is the first band to be signed on for the Rolling Stones Detour,u00a0 a tour that will take them to four music-loving cities in the country. The tour is headed towards Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai next, where they will launch their debut album, Maby Baking.

This is the first time that the band is moving out of the familiar environs of clubs in their hometown, to travel extensively across the country. And that brings on an obvious nervous tension. "This is like a test tour to see if the music stands ground across the country, not just in Kolkata. Back home, people know almost every new song that we write. So this tour, in contrast, is like a trial by fire," says drummer Avinash Chordia.
The idea behind the album title came from lead vocalist Anando Sen. "It's a play on the words 'baby making' since launching our first album comes quite close to making a baby."
The band that's played in Mumbai a year ago, is excited about their launch gig. "In Mumbai, the crowd is more open to what you are doing, they come with a positive vibe. Plus, the venues are nice. It's great to perform live here," says Avinash. The launch gig will see the band perform tracks from the album as well as some
original numbers that haven't made it in there.u00a0 If you like what you hear, you can pick up a copy for yourself.
