Labourer dies in mishap at CWG headquarters

A labourer working at the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee office at Jantar Mantar was killed when a lighting system fell on him on Thursday night.

Sambhaji Rao, 56, was working on a dais being erected for Friday's ceremonial launch of the tickets for the sporting extravaganza.

Rao was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital with severe head injuries. He later succumbed to his wounds.

"We received a call of a mishap at the CWG office at around 9 pm. We found Rao lying in a pool of blood and took him to the hospital immediately," the police said.

No official from the Organising Committee was available for comment.
