A 55-year-old retired government employee was critically injured yesterday after he attempted to commit suicide by jumping in front of a Delhi Metro train at the INA station. This is the third such incident in three days

Mohan Jagtiani, who was a clerk in the tourism ministry, jumped on to the track as the Jahangirpuri-bound Metro train was entering the station around 12.11 pm. "The driver applied emergency brakes as the man jumped from the platform," said a Metro spokesperson.u00a0

Though the train stopped short of Jagtiani, he received serious head injuries due to his jump.

He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre where his condition is stated to be critical.

No suicide note was recovered from Jagtiani's possession and police are yet to ascertain the reason behind his extreme step. u00a0
