A 30-year-old man was accidentally shot dead during celebratory firing by a relative of a newly elected member of the District Development Committee (DDC) in Ghunghter area, a senior officer said here on Tuesday.
Agresh Rawat was shot dead when Jai Singh, brother-in-law of newly elected DDC member Kiran Devi, opened fire as a mark of celebration, in Shravan village yesterday, SP Navneet Kumar Rana said.
Rawat was rushed to the district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, he said, adding, Jai Singh was arrested this morning.
